Chapter 280: The Meeting

“Master, you see clearly that our family is not short of silver, but our reputation must not be damaged!” The woman opposite him said with a smile, fully embodying the image of a virtuous wife.

Qin Yan was even more satisfied upon hearing this!

This third madam had been with him for so many years, yet her thoughtful and intricate care had never diminished even a bit, which made him feel all the more at ease with her!

In fact, whenever he went out on business, he would entrust all affairs of the Qin Estate to her, and every time, he was extremely pleased with how she handled things.

“Master, I have already sent someone to summon this person. After you have met him once, leave these small matters to me!” The woman continued to speak softly.

Qin Yan smiled slightly upon hearing this, and just as he was about to say something, the voice of a servant was heard outside the room.

“Master, Qin Ping has brought the guest. Shall we receive him now?”

“Have Qin Ping bring him in,” Qin Yan casually ordered.

Having given the instruction, he simply closed his mouth and gave the third madam an apologetic smile.

“As you wish!”

The servant responded and fell silent.

Outside the guest hall, Qin Ping entered, followed by a somewhat simple-looking young man.

The young man walked in, glancing left and right as he examined everything in the hall, seeming extremely curious about everything inside the room.

When the two reached the hall, Qin Ping reported and then quietly withdrew outside, leaving only the young man standing there, somewhat uneasy as he faced Qin Yan and his wife.

Qin Yan and the third madam exchanged a knowing smile at the young man's awkward demeanor. Qin Yan then cleared his throat and kindly said to the young man,

“I heard that you have a letter from one of Qin’s elders. Is this true? May I have a look at the letter?”

The young man, who was Han Li, glanced at the head of the Qin family with hesitation, as if uncertain, and asked back,

“Are you really Uncle Qin? My grandfather explicitly said that the letter should only be given to Uncle Qin himself!”

The third madam was slightly taken aback by Han Li’s words but almost couldn’t help laughing.

In the Qin Residence’s receiving hall, who would dare to blatantly impersonate the head of the Qin Family? The young man's question was truly amusing!

Qin Yan, upon hearing this, was momentarily stunned and showed a helpless smile.

He had no choice but to say helplessly,

“I am indeed the genuine master of the Qin Estate, but whether I am truly your Uncle Qin depends on verifying the letter!”

Qin Yan’s embarrassed expression greatly amused the third madam. She never expected that the famous Qin family head, known throughout Yue Capital, would be doubted by a rustic young man—it was quite a rare sight!

Hearing Qin Yan’s words, Han Li’s expression shifted to one of doubtful belief. After some hesitation, he reluctantly handed over the letter, which was nearly crumpled into a wreck.

Qin Yan, already impatient, stifled the urge to snatch the letter away but managed to maintain his composure as he took it.

However, he did not immediately open the letter. Instead, he looked meaningfully at Han Li and then unexpectedly placed the letter on the table, clapping his hands twice.

“Clap! Clap!”

Almost instantly, an old man in green robes with a head full of white hair entered from outside.

Without a word, Qin Yan pointed at the letter. The old man respectfully stepped forward, took the letter, and examined it carefully against the slanting sunlight streaming into the hall before placing it back on the table with both hands.

“Is there no problem?” Qin Yan asked.

After uttering these words, the old man bowed and quietly withdrew, moving like a ghost—silent and unseen.

Relieved, Qin Yan glanced sideways at Han Li, who looked puzzled, and couldn’t help but smile.

Without explanation, Qin Yan proficiently tore open the letter and carefully read the paper inside.
