Han Li felt a twinge in his heart upon hearing this—there was a faint bitterness in her words.

“Come inside with me. I have something to ask you.”

When Han Li entered the living room, Li Huayuan was sitting thoughtfully in a chair, lost in contemplation. His wife sat closely beside him.
“Do you know Nangong Wan from the Moon Veil Sect?” Li Huayuan stopped his thoughts as Han Li approached and asked straightforwardly.
Han Li was silent for a moment, weighing his words carefully. Seeing that Nangong Wan’s abnormal behavior had been noticed by Li Huayuan and that there was no way to evade the question, he nodded and admitted:
“I have indeed crossed paths once with Senior Uncle Nangong.”
Li Huayuan was somewhat surprised that Han Li admitted so readily. His expression softened instantly.
“What happened exactly? Can you tell me?”
Hearing this, the young mistress’s curiosity piqued. Previously, Nangong Wan had outright denied knowing Han Li, but now this disciple claimed otherwise. There must be a story behind it.
Li Huayuan nodded at his wife’s words, looking at Han Li expectantly, clearly wanting to know the truth for himself.
“Master, please forgive me. This involves some private matters of Senior Uncle Nangong. I once promised not to disclose it, so I ask for your understanding.” Han Li had prepared a polite excuse and declined tactfully.
Li Huayuan and his wife were quite surprised by Han Li’s reply. They exchanged looks, and after thinking for a moment, Li Huayuan spoke slowly, as if weighing his words:
“Since you’ve already promised, I won’t let you break your word. But I must warn you to keep your distance from this Nangong Immortal Lady! You should know the Moon Veil Sect’s men are exceptionally skilled in seduction techniques. I’m truly afraid you might unknowingly fall under her spell without realizing it. Han Li relaxed at this and quickly responded respectfully.
Seeing Han Li’s respectful demeanor and his evident reverence for his master, Li Huayuan’s last trace of displeasure vanished. He kindly began giving Han Li advice about his cultivation, and naturally, Han Li listened intently, not missing a single word.
After some time, Li Huayuan casually asked Han Li about his experience in cultivation. Satisfied with the answers, he suddenly said something unexpected.
“Han Li, I have a personal matter for you to handle. Are you willing?”
“Personal matter?” Han Li was momentarily stunned but immediately replied eagerly, “Master, please just tell me. I will do my best to complete it!”
Li Huayuan was pleased by Han Li’s decisive attitude. After pacing the room a couple of times, he said in a deep voice:
“It’s not very dangerous, actually. I want you to act as a bodyguard for a while, to protect a certain family.”
