Chapter 269: Bloodlust
“Is this thing trying to trap us all at once?” Zhong Wu’s face turned pale as he said.
“Hmph!”
Xuan Le said nothing but raised his hand, sending seven or eight fireballs flying out to strike the dense spiderweb.
After several loud bangs, the spiderweb remained intact without even a scorch mark.
This time, the others showed no surprise, clearly expecting that the spiderweb wouldn’t be easy to break.
In an instant, several white spider legs curled slightly, then suddenly pushed hard, propelling its whole body straight toward Xuan Le.
Xuan Le’s expression darkened. He reached out, pulled out a yellow talisman, and pressed it silently onto the ground. The talisman quietly merged into the earth.
Immediately, a huge stone spike several feet thick shot up from the ground nearby, piercing accurately into the spider’s abdomen in midair, pinning it firmly to the cave ceiling, making it impossible to come down.
“Good!”
Lv Tianmeng shouted with joy, a pleased expression on his face.
He then tossed out a dark green leather pouch, its opening aimed exactly at the spider pinned to the cave ceiling, faintly glowing with a radiant light.
The spider, trapped against the ceiling, emitted several sharp hissing screams. Its claws clenched around the stone spike’s top and then fiercely pushed.
With a crashing sound, the spike’s tip was easily crushed and shattered, with countless stone fragments falling.
Freed at last, the demonic beast landed and crouched atop the damaged stone spike. Its small side eyes flickered green, as if enraged.
It crouched and then lunged forward again at the cultivators.
But at that moment, a radiant light burst from the leather pouch, sweeping the spider up in midair without fail. The pouch was then swiftly pulled back like lightning, shrinking the huge beast down and trapping it inside.
Han Li and the others were shocked. This spider looked so troublesome, yet it was captured so easily—it was hard to believe.
Lv Tianmeng himself wore a mixture of surprise and delight.
Although his “Sun and Moon Bag” was tremendously powerful and had trapped many beasts before, capturing this spider so smoothly truly amazed him. Yet joy quickly swelled within him. If he could tame such a beast, wouldn’t his strength soar several levels?
Thinking this, Lv Tianmeng, usually composed, couldn’t help but smile broadly. He eagerly beckoned the green pouch, which slowly flew over under everyone’s watchful eyes.
The other cultivators naturally knew how important such a captured beast was to the people of Spiritual Beast Mountain, and they couldn’t hide their envy.
But just as these feelings surfaced, the flying pouch suddenly stopped midair, refusing to move.
Lv Tianmeng’s heart jumped. He hastily forced his magical power to retrieve it, but after a few shakes, the pouch remained suspended.
Everyone watching sensed something was wrong and became cautious.
The pouch’s surface began to warp and deform, as if the beast inside was causing trouble. This strange phenomenon lasted only a moment before vanishing, replaced by the pouch swelling suddenly and then exploding with a loud bang.
The white spider had forcibly broken out of the magical artifact, returning to its original form.
Now freed again, the beast was clearly frenzied. Its glistening white body gradually turned red, emitting a terrifying blood-red glow. Its fangs ground together, producing chilling “crackling” sounds.
Seeing this, Lv Tianmeng and the others solemnly took a few steps back, hoping to create distance before unleashing their magical artifacts in a furious attack.
But the blood-red spider’s claws sliced left and right, charging like lightning between the two cultivators who had retreated the farthest.
Two white flashes appeared, and with two “puff” sounds, the protective shields of the two cultivators shattered under the spider’s front claws. Their bodies were sliced cleanly in half at the waist, dying instantly.
One of them was the ugly man, Zhong Wu—poor him, thinking retreating farther would be safer!
