Chapter 262: Escaping
After waiting a little longer, the blood clouds were still a dense, misty mass with no sound at all. Whenever those little ghosts approached the thickest part of the mist, they were instantly cut to pieces, leaving no trace or sound to detect.
This made Wang Chan unable to stay still any longer. He formed a hand seal, and the skulls floating on the surface of the blood clouds opened their huge mouths, simultaneously spitting out dozens of bowl-thick black beams that shot directly toward the position where Han Li had been.
With a faint "bang" of impact,
a faint white light flickered within the mist. In the fierce collision of black and white lights, a white light shield appeared faintly within the fog. This caused the Young Lord of the Ghost Spirit Sect to be momentarily stunned, but he quickly recalled the pure white scale shield that Han Li had originally deployed.
Wang Chan frowned. After some hesitation, he muttered to himself,
"Since there are so many exquisite magical artifacts to gain, I might as well sacrifice some of my essence to prevent that brat from using some trick to escape."
Having spoken, Wang Chan suddenly put his right index finger to his mouth and bit lightly. From the corner of his lips, he squeezed out a drop of extremely thick fresh blood, which he gently dripped into the blood clouds beneath him. Then he plunged both hands deeply into the blood clouds, concentrating fully to activate his cultivation technique.
As Wang Chan slowly chanted the incantation, the bright red blood clouds enveloping Han Li began to spin, accelerating steadily while compressing inward toward the center. Meanwhile, the blood fiends automatically dissolved and vanished without a trace.
The cyan and crimson mist sped up with the blood clouds’ rotation, swirling rapidly into the blood clouds and merging with them. Gradually, the center cleared, revealing a huge white light shield shaped like an inverted bowl with the white scale shield at its center.
At the core beneath the light shield, Han Li held in one hand a strangely-shaped small dagger with a handle, radiating astonishing yellow blades. In his other hand, he held a stack of shimmering talismans, poised to launch an attack. Two spheres, one blue and one red, floated beside him, continuously emitting thick cyan and crimson mist. Wang Chan observed all of this clearly.
“You...” The Young Lord of the Ghost Spirit Sect sneered coldly at this sight, about to mock Han Li again.
But no sooner had he spoken a word than Han Li suddenly raised his hand. The small dagger flickered lightly and transformed into a dazzling yellow beam several yards long, shooting rapidly toward Wang Chan.
At the same time, the stack of talismans in his other hand was thrown out, instantly summoning a dozen fiery dragons raging fiercely from thin air, launching a simultaneous assault.
“Kid, magical artifacts can’t break through my Blood Spirit Great Technique, unless...”
Wang Chan, who had been carelessly unleashing black energy from the skulls, suddenly stopped at the word "unless." He abruptly remembered something, his face turning pale as he soared out of the blood clouds.
At the same moment, the yellow beam “popped” several times, shattering several skulls blocking its path, and then, together with the fire dragons, broke through the blood clouds, surging out from where Wang Chan had been meditating. A white light shot out from the gap, fleeing rapidly, with the yellow beam following closely behind.
“Talisman treasure!” Wang Chan shouted in shock and anger.
He had been careless, not expecting that Han Li’s use of the mist was merely to buy time to activate the talisman treasure. Otherwise, even if Han Li had a talisman treasure, Wang Chan would never have given him the chance to launch it. But the chance of a foundation establishment stage cultivator possessing a talisman treasure was very small, so he had overlooked this.
Still, even with a talisman treasure, how could the Young Lord of the Ghost Spirit Sect be afraid? He carried two talisman treasures himself, one of which had very rare special attributes. He naturally would not allow Han Li to escape just like that.
