Chapter 260: The Trap
The cultivators beside the Young Lord of the Ghost Spirit Sect received orders to transmit a message to the Li Brothers, who were disguised within the magic formation. However, their expressions suddenly changed, and they turned to ask the Young Lord again:
"Young Lord, the two elders say that three cultivators are too far from the formation. Once it activates, we won’t be able to restrict those three within the formation’s control. We need you to think of a way to lure them closer!"
The Young Lord of the Ghost Spirit Sect, Wang Chan, looked somewhat surprised and furrowed his brows. This situation was a bit unexpected. Normally, the temporary Yin Fire Great Formation’s control range was quite large, yet there were still people outside of it. That was strange.
With this in mind, Wang Chan raised his head and gazed forward. Sure enough, beyond the formation’s control range, he found three individuals not within it.
Two of them were a man and a woman from the Moon Veil Sect, whispering intimately beneath a large tree at the northeast corner outside the formation. They acted as if they were sneaking around to avoid others, deeply engaged in their illicit romance.
At the exact west side, about ten yards away from the control boundary near a rock, stood a plain-looking young man in yellow clothes, calmly observing everything on the mountain peak — none other than the cautious Han Li.
“Those are the three!” Wang Chan muttered thoughtfully.
After a brief pause, he whispered a few words to the Ghost Spirit Sect cultivators beside him. The subordinate nodded repeatedly in agreement.
Then, this Ghost Spirit Sect cultivator, dressed in Yan Family attire, stepped out from the soil platform and mist, and began shouting loudly not far from the formation:
“All guests attending the tournament, come draw lots and sign up! After counting the participants, the treasure seizing tournament will officially begin...”
The shout immediately drew the attention of the other cultivators, who instinctively began moving closer to the formation. Even the Moon Veil Sect man and woman, though somewhat reluctant, walked over and stepped into the formation’s control range.
Seeing this, a slight smirk appeared at the corner of Wang Chan’s mouth under the mask. But when his gaze shifted westward toward Han Li’s position, the faint smile instantly froze.
Because Han Li remained completely still, not a hint of intent to come draw lots. He even crossed his arms, watching with interest as the other cultivators gradually gathered.
“Which sect does that man belong to?” Wang Chan asked coldly after a moment.
“Judging by his clothes, he should be a cultivator from Yellow Maple Valley!” a Ghost Spirit Sect cultivator cautiously replied, sensing his Young Lord’s displeasure.
“Order the two elders to take action! That Yellow Maple Valley disciple is quite interesting. It would be nice to have me handle him personally,” Wang Chan said calmly, though a bloody gleam flickered in his eyes, giving off a faint aura of bloodthirstiness.
“Yes, Young Lord!” Several Ghost Spirit Sect guards behind him shivered and answered respectfully.
…
From a distance, Han Li stood on one side of the rock, seemingly smiling at the sight of the cultivators signing up. But if someone had come closer to look, they would have realized his smile was stiff and forced, with drops of sweat on his forehead.
“That person from the Yan Family is actually a Ghost Spirit Sect cultivator!” Han Li had just realized this and felt as if struck by lightning.
Originally, when the Ghost Spirit Sect disguised themselves as Yan Family members, Han Li had no suspicion. After hearing the call to sign up, he had even intended to go over.
But when the man waved to summon the cultivators, Han Li noticed something startling — that Yan Family man had half an inch long dark green fingernails, exactly like those of the yellow-haired Ghost Spirit Sect freak from before!
Han Li was stunned and a chill ran down his spine.
