Chapter 242: Talisman Making
Han Li carefully put away the two Golden Pages and then focused his mind on planning the matters ahead.
Since he was going to cultivate the Blue Origin Sword Technique and the Triple Cycle Rejuvenation Technique, the mysterious little bottle's green liquid definitely had to be fully utilized. So the pill refining ingredients recorded on those two ancient prescriptions needed to be gathered as soon as possible. Whatever was available on hand, he would hasten to cultivate. For what he didn’t have, he would collect from other places or buy whatever he could—not letting anything slip by.
Speaking of the green liquid’s components, aside from the spiritual power, the other elements it contained still felt utterly mysterious to him. But it was certain that spiritual energy alone could not produce the miraculous effect of accelerating plant growth.
After entering Yellow Maple Valley, he had studied it several times again. No matter how much he diluted the liquid, as long as animals drank water containing even the smallest trace of the green liquid, all the test animals suffered the same explosive demise. It seemed this was not a matter of dilution but rather the unknown components causing the problem.
After several identical results, Han Li reluctantly gave up.
But now, using the little bottle solely for pill refining’s miraculous effect seemed too limited! Han Li felt that this miraculous effect of quickening plant growth must have other great uses and would be a waste otherwise.
After some consideration, Han Li thought that in foundation establishment stage conflicts, aside from magical artifacts and cultivation techniques, intermediate-level or higher talismans were definitely indispensable. These intermediate talismans were extremely expensive! They often cost dozens of spirit stones each, which made Han Li shake his head repeatedly in disbelief!
However, many of these intermediate or higher Five Elements spells were extremely powerful and sharp methods guaranteed to save lives.
Because these spells were of a high rank, even foundation establishment stage cultivators would have to expend considerable magical power and time to cast them. Therefore, purchasing a few to keep for emergency use was a necessary measure.
Han Li then set his mind on producing talismans himself—specifically intermediate-level ones.
The blank talisman papers required for making talismans, whether low-grade or intermediate, were made by refining certain aged spiritual herbs. This was exactly where the miraculous effect of the little bottle could come into play and be fully utilized.
Of course, high-grade talisman paper could not be made this way, because it required the spiritual skins of certain special demonic beasts, which Han Li currently had no access to.
As for cinnabar used in talisman making, there was nothing to fuss about. It was mostly refined from the blood of spiritual beasts, easily extracted from those raised in captivity, and was not expensive at all.
The talisman pens used in talisman making did require some care, but Han Li still had a Golden Bamboo Brush, which should be sufficient.
Thinking of the Golden Bamboo Brush naturally brought to Han Li’s mind the shy little girl Han Yunzhi. He smiled slightly; she was probably still on Spiritual Beast Mountain at this moment!
But in the blink of an eye, Han Li reined in his thoughts and reconsidered the feasibility and risks involved in talisman making.
With the tools and a steady supply of materials, the biggest limitation for a talisman maker—material consumption—was no problem at all for him. The only remaining restriction was the cultivation of intermediate or higher-level spells.
Because a talisman maker must be able to cast the spell himself to craft the talisman; otherwise, no matter what, he cannot imprint the spell onto talisman paper out of thin air. After all, talismans are simply a means to pre-seal spells.
At the thought of having to cultivate intermediate spells, Han Li felt a headache coming on!
