Chapter 240: The Page
Li Huayuan saw that Han Li was being so sensible, and a faint look of satisfaction appeared on his face. Then he stretched out his hand and gently grabbed at the empty air. Instantly, a red glow flew out from his hand, wrapping around a jade slip, and brought it back to his palm.
Without even looking, Li Huayuan handed it directly to Han Li. Then, using the same technique, he grabbed seven or eight more items one after another before finally stopping. At this point, Han Li was already holding a large pile of things, his eyes overwhelmed by the sheer variety.
“These cultivation methods all help to rapidly advance your magical power and are relatively easy to practice. You pick one to be your main method. The rest must be put back in their original places. Once you've finished selecting, let me know,” Li Huayuan said calmly to Han Li, then sat down cross-legged on a meditation cushion in the stone chamber.
Han Li felt his eyes growing a little dazzled. Although the cultivation methods weren't many, each had its own unique characteristics.
For example, one jade slip contained the "Return to Origin Skill." Not only did it help increase magical power quickly, but it also included a very practical little divine ability called "Returning-Origin Spiritual Armor." When fighting an enemy, it could add a layer of defensive magic, and by condensing magical power into spiritual armor, it offered an extra layer of protection — an excellent life-saving measure. Moreover, as the Return to Origin Skill advanced, the armor’s defensive strength gradually increased.
Another jade slip contained the "Phantom Spirit Technique," which was also quite good. Its accompanying divine ability "Phantom Illusion" could create perfect clones of oneself anytime and anywhere, used to confuse enemies. The higher the cultivation level, the more clones could be created, better deceiving the opponent's sight.
Aside from these two methods, the other spell formations came with minor divine abilities. Although their power was not great, all were highly effective for self-preservation and escape. It seemed the creators of these cultivation methods clearly understood that these techniques couldn’t be used to compete for strength or fight fiercely; preserving one’s life was the top priority.
But after browsing through all of them, Han Li was shocked by a golden page inside a jade box.
Because the style and size of this page were too familiar. Han Li was certain it was exactly the same as the silver page he had in his hand, except this golden page seemed thinner, without those strange patterns. Instead, it was densely covered with ancient script. Upon closer inspection, it recorded an ordinary spell formation called "Yuan Condensation Skill," paired with a very basic auxiliary spell formation "Spirit Gathering Technique," which could speed up the accumulation of spiritual energy during cultivation.
Han Li flipped this golden page over and over, his confusion growing. But he also knew now was not the time to ponder mysteries, although he was very tempted to immediately take out the silver page from his storage pouch for a side-by-side comparison.
However, he had to make a decision now, or else his master would start to get suspicious.
Thinking this, Han Li weighed the golden page in his hand and instantly made his choice.
Then, he spoke to Li Huayuan, who was resting with his eyes closed:
“Master, I have made my choice. This cultivation method it is!”
Hearing this, Li Huayuan opened his eyes and was slightly startled upon seeing the golden page in Han Li’s hands. But he said nothing, merely nodded, and then led him out of the stone chamber.
Back in the main hall, the young woman was waiting for the two of them. Seeing them, she first smiled gently before asking:
“So, have you chosen yet?”
“Thank you for your concern, Master’s wife. I have already made my selection,” Han Li replied respectfully.
“I’m relieved to hear that!” The young woman smiled happily again, seemingly even more concerned about this than Han Li himself, which made him a little startled.
