Chapter 230: The Trap
The other two cultivators took off swiftly, vanishing into the sky in the blink of an eye. The burly man, however, remained motionless atop the giant tiger, coldly watching them leave with no intention of giving chase!
Han Li hid among the clouds, feeling something was off. Judging by this man’s ruthless and cold demeanor moments ago, he shouldn’t have just let them go so easily. Could there be another trick up his sleeve?
While Han Li was speculating wildly, a sudden cold voice came from below, belonging to the burly man:
“Sir, after watching this show for so long, aren’t you waiting for the perfect moment to strike and reap the benefits?”
Han Li was shocked.
“Could it be that despite hiding so high up, this person has discovered me?”
The thought made Han Li swallow dryly, his heart jumping into his throat.
Having witnessed the terrifying power of those mechanical puppets, Han Li was unwilling to be used as a target for the giant tiger’s attacks like those cultivators in the sky.
The speed of that massive light beam was too fast, and its power too formidable! Han Li estimated that to face it directly, he would have to fully activate the Divine Wind Boat and dodge continuously; otherwise, escaping unscathed would be impossible.
After some thought, Han Li wanted to escape quickly from the sky to avoid inviting disaster. But when he glanced again at the burly man’s actions, his intention vanished immediately.
The puppets around the burly man had adjusted their weapon aim—not toward Han Li’s high position, but diagonally toward a small dirt mound not far away.
Han Li was so surprised he almost bit his tongue!
There was a third person here, and he hadn’t noticed at all.
With a rustling of overturned earth, a figure indeed emerged from the dirt mound—none other than the strange man wearing a gray cloth bag over his head, who had been in sharp opposition to the burly man.
“So it’s you after all!”
“Who exactly are you? It seems you know something about the secret of these Puppet Mechanical Beasts!”
The burly man’s eyes were icy cold as he glared fiercely at the stranger.
“Yellow Long, it’s been so many years since we last met, and your temper is still so fiery!” The bagged stranger paused, then suddenly said something that shocked both the other man and the eavesdropping Han Li.
“How do you know who I am? Which acquaintance of mine are you?”
The burly man was surprised that the other had called out his name so directly. His face showed astonishment. But since his identity was exposed, there was no point in hiding anymore. He tore off the cloak covering his head and threw it to the ground.
Revealing the face of a fierce-looking man with short, scorched yellow hair.
“Why would you leave your position as protector dharma king of the thousand bamboo sect and come all this way here? Could it really be just for the secret of the half great yin technique hidden in the puppet beasts?” The stranger ignored the burly man’s move and spoke calmly.
“If you don’t reveal your identity, don’t blame me for being rude!” Yellow Long’s face darkened as he urgently warned.
“Have you forgotten who secretly taught you the first formula of the great yin technique back then?”
After hesitating briefly, the stranger finally said something that changed the burly man’s expression drastically; he staggered back several steps.
“Senior Brother Lin? ...No, Senior Brother Lin has long been dead. How dare you mock me! I’ll take your life!” The burly man shouted furiously.
He then made a fierce gesture, prompting over a hundred puppets to step forward and surround the stranger tightly.
“Seeing that Yellow Junior Brother hasn’t forgotten old feelings brings me great comfort!” The stranger suddenly showed a gentle look and then ripped off the bag covering his head, revealing his true face.
“Senior Brother Lin!”
“Senior Uncle Lin!”
Both the burly man and the ever-watchful Han Li exclaimed almost simultaneously. The burly man called out loud, while Han Li gasped silently.
