Chapter 220: Spirit Eye Spring
After the female disciple went to fetch the spiritual beast, Han Li quietly waited at the reception platform, occasionally glancing at the various prohibitive formations around him.
Except for the mountaintop where Han Li stood, the rest of Spiritual Beast Mountain was divided into multiple spiritual beast habitats of varying sizes by colorful prohibitive formation arrays.
Each enclosed area sealed by these formations was a breeding ground for a specific kind of spiritual beast. Except for the rotating disciples of Qilin Pavilion, others were forbidden to enter, to prevent strangers from disturbing the spiritual beasts or being harmed by untamed spiritual beasts.
So although the entire Spiritual Beast Mountain appeared silent and tranquil, it was actually home to nearly a thousand different spiritual beasts—a truly impressive scale!
The female disciple didn’t keep Han Li waiting long. After the duration of a meal, she emerged from one of the formations carrying a small beast no bigger than a fist, heading straight toward Han Li.
“This is the double-eyed rat. Renting it requires one low-grade spirit stone per day!” The female disciple gently stroked the soft fur of the little beast and respectfully told Han Li.
“Very well, here are three spirit stones; I’ll take it for three days,” Han Li replied calmly.
“After three days, senior uncle only needs to release the double-eyed rat, and it will return to Qilin Pavilion on its own. During this period, I hope you can treat it kindly. This bag contains its favorite pear fruit. When you have free time, you can feed it a few pieces,” the young girl said as she took the spirit stones, handed the spiritual beast to Han Li, and then produced a small white pouch.
Han Li nodded slightly and took the pouch with an indifferent expression.
Then, under the girl's respectful gaze, he flew away on his instrument.
Han Li flew northwest in the air.
As he traveled, he couldn’t help but examine the obedient double-eyed rat in his arms.
At first glance, this yellow little beast really looked like a field mouse—small, with yellow fur and a long thin tail.
The only difference was the pair of large eyes on its face, completely unlike those of a normal field mouse. Though just a small difference, it instantly made the beast incredibly adorable!
Especially since its eyes faintly shimmered with five colors of flowing light, enhancing its mysterious aura.
Even Han Li, who had grown used to cold detachment, couldn’t help but stroke it a few times and felt a rising desire to raise one himself.
But Han Li also knew that despite the little beast’s current docile demeanor, it was actually a genuine first-class mid-level demonic beast.
Besides having a pair of magical double eyes, it also had steel teeth capable of chewing copper and iron, as well as front claws that could pierce through gold and stone—far from harmless as it seemed.
Thinking of this, Han Li fiddled with the little beast’s ears. When they twitched amusingly, he chuckled softly, as if a hidden childhood innocence resurfaced.
Han Li continued flying with the little beast for a whole day until they finally stopped at the outermost area in the northwest of the Taiyue Mountain Range.
A hundred miles further north would lead into Yuanwu Country, territory of the great immortal sect Heavenly Star Sect, which also had a bustling market town roughly opposing the Yellow Maple Valley’s market to the east.
Two hundred miles west lay the border between Jianzhou and the smallest prefecture of Yue Country—Xizhou.
This prefecture was the only one among the seven great sects with no presence of their forces. It was mostly barren yellow earth hills and an endless desert that covered over three-quarters of Xizhou. The total population barely exceeded one hundred thousand, meaning there were neither resources nor manpower available. Naturally, it didn’t attract the attention of the seven great sects.
Han Li chose to establish his secluded mansion nearby for two reasons.
