Chapter 217: Sword Technique
The divine ability perfected at the last three layers of the sword technique is a spell formation called "Sword Shadow Light Dispersion Technique." To cultivate it, one must first have a flying sword-type magical treasure; of course, throwing knives would also work.
Once mastered, this divine ability allows the user, during combat, to use the sword light of the flying sword to create an illusionary sword shadow identical to the flying sword itself. This can confuse the enemy’s vision and attack alongside the original sword. Although the sword shadow initially only possesses one-tenth of the original sword’s power, its strength increases as the sword technique levels up. By the ninth level, it can reach one-third of the original power.
Moreover, when cultivating the sword shadow, it is possible to create more than one shadow. Starting from the seventh level, each level gained allows the formation of an additional sword shadow. Thus, when the Blue Origin Sword Technique is cultivated to perfection, one can have three sword shadows that look exactly like the flying sword, each with one-third of its power.
From this perspective, the "Sword Light Shadow Splitting Technique" seems quite formidable and certainly worth cultivating.
However, Han Li already knew that among the many foundation establishment stage cultivators in Yellow Maple Valley, none had truly deeply cultivated it. There had to be some hidden catch! He greatly regretted not investigating the matter thoroughly earlier, having assumed no one would train the Blue Origin Sword Technique seriously and thus dismissed it casually.
Now, although Han Li was aware that this spell formation had significant problems, he still had to grit his teeth and give it a try, hoping it would not cause any qi deviation or other side effects.
On the other hand, he thought that since others had managed to reach two or three layers, lightly cultivating it shouldn’t be a big issue.
With this self-reassurance, Han Li reluctantly followed the method of the Blue Origin Sword Technique, absorbing the medicinal power inside his body that was about to erupt.
The cultivation method only ran through one simple cycle when Han Li suddenly felt a powerful surge. The sensation of absorbing medicinal power and boosting his magical power made him so comfortable that he nearly cried out in pleasure!
Immersed in this wonderful feeling, Han Li let the spell formation cycle repeatedly, while his mind gradually drifted away.
He didn’t know how long he had been meditating until, when he absorbed the last trace of medicinal power inside him, he eventually woke from this exquisite experience.
After regaining full consciousness, Han Li was momentarily dazed but then stood up without a word. Squinting and tilting his head to think for a moment, he suddenly raised his arm and made a gesture in front of him. Immediately, a sword radiance about a foot long shot out from his fingers, exuding a chilling aura and sharpness.
Seeing this cold light, Han Li didn’t feel pleased but instead smiled bitterly. Then, with a sudden flick of his arm, the blue glow surged violently, growing over ten feet long, nearly piercing the stone wall opposite him.
“This is bad. I didn’t expect the residual medicinal power to be so strong that I ended up forging the fourth layer of the sword technique at once. I wonder if this will cause serious problems!” Han Li muttered anxiously, his expression fluctuating.
“No matter. At worst, I’ll just stop cultivating this sword technique in the future!” he mumbled, then lowered his arm, causing the blue sword radiance to vanish.
However, curiosity getting the better of him, Han Li picked up the Blue Origin Sword Technique manual, skimmed through the section on the Protective Sword Shield spell formation, and memorized it a few times.
Then, Han Li lowered his head to ponder for a moment, closed his eyes, and suddenly opened them wide again. A peculiar protective shield had appeared around him.
