Chapter 210: The Bet
Han Li suddenly remembered another girl he had encountered inside the Forbidden Zone. He glanced toward Spiritual Beast Mountain and saw Han Yunzhi sitting quietly on the ground. Her expression was calm, showing no signs of trouble, which made Han Li breathe a sigh of relief.
As the closing of the passage drew near, the faces of the Moon Veil Sect disciples grew increasingly grim.
The disciples from the other sects, though outwardly appearing to be concerned for the Moon Veil Sect disciples, were actually secretly delighted. After all, as the largest sect in Yue Country, Moon Veil Sect had long been the target of envy. The opportunity to weaken their strength, even slightly, was naturally welcomed by these others.
Perhaps because of their secret joy, about fifteen minutes before the passage closed, a flash of white light appeared. A group of over ten Moon Veil Sect disciples marched out in formation, led by the stunningly beautiful Nangong Wan.
Seeing them emerge, Old Qiong let out a long breath of relief. Fairy Nishang, unable to contain her emotions, rushed forward, grabbing Nangong Wan’s arm with deep concern, her face filled with unmistakable worry.
This scene puzzled the onlookers from other sects.
No wonder. Although Nangong Wan had met these core formation stage cultivators a few times before, she had always worn a veil that hid her face, so none of them realized that the beautiful young woman before them was the “Immortal Lady Nangong” who had crossed paths with them several times before.
Han Li was also very relieved to see her come out safely. After all, she was the first woman in his life with whom he had a fused destiny. Even knowing that their bond could not be fulfilled, he could not help but feel concerned.
However, Grandmaster Li and the Taoist wore forced smiles. It was understandable—setting aside how much spirit medicine Moon Veil Sect had obtained, the number of disciples who emerged alive exceeded the total of their two sects combined. How could that not frustrate them?
“All the disciples seem to have come out. Those who haven’t emerged…” The leader from Spiritual Beast Mountain cleared his throat and began to speak.
Before he could finish, another figure came tumbling out of the nearly closing passage—none other than the old sly fox of Yellow Maple Valley, Xiang Zhili. But the Great Sword Sect man and the young Taoist who had been with him gathering spirit medicine were nowhere to be found.
As the old man crawled out, a tremor came from the Forbidden Zone, followed by a flash of cyan light. The passage shattered and then vanished completely.
At this point, anyone still inside the Forbidden Zone was surely doomed. Those who did not exit in time never reappeared during the next opening, disappearing for unknown reasons. This was why no one dared to delay their time.
However, it surprised the experts that an elder disciple of Yellow Maple Valley with ten-layer cultivation could escape with his life in the end, causing them to look at Xiang Zhili with renewed interest.
“Brother Li, I didn’t expect your sect to be full of talents! Not only did an eleven-layer cultivator make it out, but even a tenth-layer disciple survived. Your sect truly instructs well; I’m impressed!” The Great Sword Sect cultivator sneered as he saw only two of his own disciples emerge, and even the barefoot man they had pinned hopes on did not make it out. Meanwhile, Yellow Maple Valley managed to have two low-level disciples survive, securing their lives. His resentment was obvious.
Grandmaster Li’s face darkened. He too regarded Han Li and Xiang Zhili as opportunistic cowards who had been hiding all along. He glared hatefully at the old sly fox but still had to defend the two:
“These youngsters have shallow cultivation. If they survive, it’s their fortune. As for the methods they used, as elders, we need not criticize further.”
“Hmph!”
The Great Sword Sect expert scowled at Grandmaster Li’s pretentiousness and was about to retort when Old Qiong impatiently interrupted.
