Chapter 197: The Demonic Beast Giant Centipede

ā€œHave we arrived? Is this the cave?ā€ After two hours, Han Li stood on a black rock about half a person tall, eyeing the cave entrance several meters away, muttering to himself.

ā€œLooks like there’s nothing special about it!ā€ Han Li didn’t recklessly rush in but carefully observed the surroundings for a moment. Although time was tight, he couldn’t afford to be careless and fall into danger.

The secret cave described in the information truly looked very inconspicuous from the outside, identical to several wild caves Han Li had seen on the way, without a trace of anything eye-catching. He didn’t even know how the previous person found it, which earned Han Li a bit of admiration.

After the time it took to drink a cup of tea, Han Li was certain there were no demonic beasts or ambushes nearby. Only then did he cautiously approach the cave entrance.

The cave entrance was completely natural, made of pale green mountain stone with no sign of artificial chiseling. As soon as Han Li stepped inside and glanced at the cave walls on both sides, he reached that conclusion.

Then, Han Li’s figure flickered as he quietly slipped inside. But after only a dozen or so steps, he stopped again because after one or two turns, the surroundings were pitch black.

Han Li frowned, reached into his storage pouch, and pulled out a moonlight stone the size of an egg. Once it appeared, its soft white light immediately illuminated the area clearly. Seeing this, Han Li shook his head helplessly.

His original plan was to sneak silently deep into the cave to see if any demonic beasts guarded it. If there were, he would strike silently and lethally, saving himself a lot of trouble! But now that the moonlight stone was out, he had become the most obvious target—how could he ambush like that?

Han Li lightly cupped the white glowing moonlight stone in one hand, hesitated for a moment, then used the other hand to cast an earth attribute shield on himself before continuing forward with cautious, low steps.

Inside the cave, the movement techniques were limited compared to the open outdoors; having a protective layer felt much safer. Although this greatly reduced his agility, Han Li understood well that one couldn’t have both fish and bear’s paw, so he had no complaints.

The cave was very narrow and long; even after half an hour of walking, Han Li still saw no sign of an end. This made him start to doubt whether he had found the right place or if he had stumbled onto a top-tier demonic beast’s lair!

Fortunately, after walking several dozen more meters, the doubt was lifted when a large corner appeared ahead, faintly emitting a few strands of white light—indicating that the goal was near.

Han Li was delighted and quickly collected the moonlight stone, then quietly moved toward the light. Since there was already light here and it was at a corner, the original plan could continue!

Peeking his head slowly around the corner, Han Li was first pleased by the scene but then secretly troubled.

The area ahead was indeed the end of the cave, a fairly spacious natural stone hall. It was filled with many glittering stalactites, and on a small purple stone wall deep inside, there grew three or four stalks of pale green small flowers.

These flowers were about an inch in size, with several petals strangely curled in the same direction, together forming a unique shape. From afar, they looked like several comical little monkeys hanging there, which was truly astonishing!

ā€œNo doubt, these must be the Purple Monkey Flower. Although their stems and leaves are green, it’s probably because they are underdeveloped!ā€ Han Li thought excitedly when he saw them.

But when his gaze shifted to the ground beneath the purple stone wall, his expression darkened — a giant centipede several feet long was lying there. Its shiny black shell, long antennae, and terrifying appearance made Han Li’s heart race even before he took action.

Although he had never killed poisonous insect-type demonic beasts before, he had long heard of their notorious reputation.
