Chapter 182: The Girl and the Silken Thread
Having figured out the cause of death of the two, Han Li could only wish this senior brother, who had already journeyed to the Yellow Springs, a smooth passage and a swift reincarnation. Without any hesitation, he began searching their bodies.
Since they were already dead, Han Li naturally took the liberty of taking their storage pouches.
He searched through everything once—nothing found!
His expression grew serious. He carefully checked again, still nothing!
Han Li felt a sudden chill run through him, his hair standing on end. His heartbeat accelerated erratically.
There was actually a fourth person here—the one who had taken the storage pouches! Though most likely this person had long since left, it couldn't be guaranteed that they weren't still nearby, watching and using these two corpses as bait, trying to find a weakness in him.
Opposite the cliff was a vast field of waist-high thatch grass, perfect for concealing anyone’s movements. Han Li happened to have his back to the grass, squatting in front of the corpses. This made him even more uneasy! Perhaps that person was hiding right behind him.
Han Li remained still, maintaining his squatting posture. From behind, it appeared he was still focused on the corpses.
But in reality, he was fully alert, quietly drawing out his magical artifact and talismans. His divine sense silently spread out, trying to detect any potential snipers.
The result of his divine sense search did not surprise Han Li—everything nearby was normal, with no abnormal spiritual energy fluctuations.
This was not strange. Even if someone were hiding nearby, they would surely be using “Breath Concealment Technique” to suppress their magical power, making them undetectable. Han Li’s use of divine sense was merely to rattle the snake and flush out the enemy!
At the very least, it was to intimidate the imagined opponent so they wouldn’t act rashly.
And indeed, just as he expected, either he was worrying over nothing, frightening only himself with paranoia, as there was no one here at all; or the watcher had seen no opportunity and kept their breath suppressed, unwilling to make a move.
After a moment, Han Li stood up, turned towards the vast thatch grass, and gave it several cold, sharp glances. Without a word, he suddenly leapt up, made a few jumps, and soon became a black dot, gradually disappearing into the distance.
As Han Li’s figure vanished without a trace, a sudden rustling broke the original silence of the grass!
Then, a slender figure emerged—a girl clad in flowing white robes.
Though she appeared young, no more than fifteen or sixteen, her features were pure and innocent, with an adorably naive expression. To see such a sprite-like beauty appear in this deadly place was truly unbelievable.
Judging by her attire, the girl was likely a disciple of the Moon Veil Sect!
She looked toward the direction where Han Li had disappeared, pursed her lips, and surprisingly muttered with a mature tone:
“Courage and wit are decent, just the magical power is lacking, and his aptitude seems a bigger problem—there’s not much potential to cultivate. Otherwise, if he survives to get out, he could have been a promising talent!”
“But judging by the lightness skill he used to escape at the end, it seems he’s trained in the secular world’s lightness skill, and it’s not weak either. That’s quite interesting!”
The girl lightly propped her delicate chin, her large eyes revealing keen interest.
If Han Li had heard these words, he would have been dumbfounded.
Her remarks were so spot on—just a few words viciously pinpointing all his strengths and weaknesses, as if she knew him better than he did himself.
“I’ll spare you this time, but I have other matters to attend to! Next time we meet, little one, you won’t get away so easily,” the girl said, scrunching her nose into a playful wrinkle, sounding a bit reluctant to leave.
It seemed Han Li had become her new toy, a source of great fascination that she was unwilling to let go.
