Chapter 151: Garden of a Hundred Medicines
Although Han Li didn’t know the conversation between Uncle Ye and the old man surnamed Wu after he left, he still felt incredibly frustrated!
Ever since he experienced the incident with Doctor Mo, encountering a situation where he knowingly had to jump into a big pit was truly a first for him. This made Han Li extremely annoyed, but it also strengthened his belief that the immortal cultivation world was indeed a place where the strong preyed on the weak.
“I’ll go to him to get what I need from now on!” Thinking this, Han Li sneered coldly. He was determined to let Uncle Ye know that his things were not so easily swallowed!
He stood on the ground and looked into the distance. Steward Yu had already returned to the Hall of a Hundred Machines because not far ahead was the Garden of a Hundred Medicines. It was a small basin between two hills, and the garden’s owner had set up some small protective seals to prevent outsiders from sneaking in.
Han Li took a few steps forward and immediately touched the nearby seal, which blocked his path with a flash of white light.
However, he was not alarmed. He raised a jade token and shone it forward; instantly, a green light shot out from the token and entered the seal. Han Li then patiently waited.
“Come in!” A dry voice came from inside, sounding as if it was right by Han Li’s ear. Then the seal before him melted away like ice and snow thawing.
Seeing this, Han Li didn’t hesitate and quickly walked inside.
Following the path ahead, Han Li stopped in front of a courtyard with a plaque that read “Garden of a Hundred Medicines.” The courtyard was quite large, covering several acres. Even before entering, a strong medicinal fragrance came from inside, invigorating Han Li’s spirit.
“Why are you standing outside foolishly? Come in quickly, I have things to do outside!” Han Li was startled but obediently walked in.
Once inside, Han Li finally saw the garden’s layout clearly.
Several thatched huts made from hay and bamboo stood in the center, while the surrounding area was divided into neatly arranged square plots by trenches. Each plot was lush with many medicinal herbs, some familiar to Han Li and others unfamiliar, along with some strange-looking plants. The entire garden was vibrant with spiritual energy; even Han Li, as an immortal cultivator, felt extremely refreshed after taking a deep breath.
“Come into the hut!” The owner of the voice grew impatient as Han Li hesitated.
Han Li smiled faintly and walked into the hut without hesitation.
Inside stood a shriveled, short old man glaring unhappily at Han Li. The old man looked about fifty years old, with two wispy yellow mustaches and a pair of slightly murky eyes darting around. At a glance, he looked like a giant anthropomorphic rat that had become sentient.
“You’re the disciple from the Hall of a Hundred Machines sent to manage the garden? Too young, and your cultivation is so weak! Is that guy surnamed Ye just fooling me? How come the people he sends get worse each time?” The small old man’s face darkened as he lost his temper upon seeing Han Li.
“I am disciple Han Li, greetings, Senior Uncle Ma!” Han Li had already learned about the old man’s peculiar temper from the files, so he wasn’t surprised and respectfully bowed.
“Hmph! Do you know how severe the punishment will be if you fail the task? You can still go back and tell Junior Disciple Ye to send someone else, it’s not too late!” The old man rolled his eyes and said irritably.
“Is it that the garden’s scale must be maintained, the herbs cannot be allowed to die prematurely, and a certain amount of herbs must be delivered monthly? If so, I still have some confidence!” Han Li said calmly.
Hearing this, the old man was somewhat surprised. It seemed that it was the first time he had met a garden disciple so confident right from the start. He gave Han Li another look, but the suspicion in his eyes didn’t lessen.
