Chapter 129: True Immortal Qingyan

Han Li had only taken a few steps when he heard someone calling him from a distance.

“Over here, Brother Han!”

Han Li looked toward the voice and saw Wan Xiaoshan standing beside the old man in green robes, waving at him eagerly.

Han Li smiled slightly and quickened his pace. When he reached the side of the old man in green robes, Wan Xiaoshan introduced him:

“This is True Immortal Qingyan from Tainan Valley. He is a close friend of my father. This Tainan Gathering is jointly hosted by him and several other seniors.”

Hearing this, Han Li couldn’t help but take a careful look at True Immortal Qingyan.

The old man was tall and slender, with broad shoulders and long arms, dressed in a green Confucian robe. He carried the ethereal aura of an immortal cultivator. But his face, mottled with blue patches, was truly striking!

Then the young man turned to the old man and said, “Brother Han is a rogue cultivator I just met outside the valley. Although he’s a rogue, we get along very well. Senior Shi, please take good care of him!”

The old man in green robes appraised Han Li for a moment, then suddenly squinted his eyes and said to him:

“Friend Han, your wood-element cultivation method is impressive! At such a young age, you’ve already reached the eighth layer. This level is rare even within prominent immortal cultivator families!”

Han Li smiled bitterly inside upon hearing True Immortal Qingyan’s praise. If it weren’t for taking large amounts of spirit pills and medicines, how could he possibly have reached the eighth layer? He was probably still crawling somewhere between the third and fourth layers!

But outwardly, he remained respectful and modest: “You flatter me, Elder Qing. I’m just lucky.”

True Immortal Qingyan nodded lightly and said no more to him. Instead, he turned to Wan Xiaoshan and said:

“Little one, the others from your family have arrived. They’re all very worried about you. I must take you to meet them as soon as I see you. Come with me now.”

Wan Xiaoshan’s face instantly fell.

“Could it be that my Seventh Sister and Ninth Brother have come too? I really dread their nagging. Can’t I skip it?” Wan Xiaoshan looked hopefully at True Immortal Qingyan.

The old man’s face hardened. “What do you think?”

“Of course not!” Wan Xiaoshan replied dejectedly.

“Hmph! You’re quite bold, sneaking out on your own without telling your family. If you ran into some malicious immortal cultivator on the way, you might never have made it back alive!” True Immortal Qingyan said, glancing sideways at Han Li.

Han Li observed coldly from the side. He clearly understood the old man’s meaning — this was a hint that he himself was the one with malicious intentions, deliberately approaching Wan Xiaoshan.

Han Li thought helplessly, “It’s rare to meet such an honest young master. Looks like we’ll have to part ways for now! Otherwise, with True Immortal Qingyan throwing obstacles around, I’d be the one in trouble!”

“Since Brother Wan is going to meet his family, I’ll just wander around on my own for now. If there’s a chance later, I’ll drink and chat with Brother Xiaoshan,” Han Li said, clasping his fists and addressing Wan Xiaoshan and True Immortal Qingyan.

“Oh, don’t rush off! I still want to introduce you to—”

“Friend Han has his own important matters to attend to. Don’t trouble him!” Wan Xiaoshan hurriedly tried to say something but was cut off by True Immortal Qingyan grabbing him and speaking first.

Seeing this, Han Li smiled brightly at Wan Xiaoshan and then turned to continue toward the square.

The young man, however, followed behind True Immortal Qingyan looking like a prisoner being led to the execution ground, his face full of misery as they slowly moved toward the pavilion.

Han Li wasn’t angry about how True Immortal Qingyan treated him.

After all, any elder who saw an unknown friend beside their child or nephew would naturally look on him with suspicion — especially in an immortal cultivator family as prominent as Wan Xiaoshan’s.
