Chapter 106: The Blue-Clothed Man

On Nanling Street, the busiest street in the southern part of Jiayuan City, there stood a sprawling mansion covering several acres. Hanging on the black lacquered main gate of the mansion was a plaque inscribed with the words "Mo Residence." Flanking the plaque were eight burly men dressed in tight-fitting outfits. Each of these tough-looking men held their heads high and stared straight ahead, exuding an aura of disciplined sharpness that made one think twice before underestimating them.

Not far from the Mo Residence, directly across the street, stood a three-story Xiang Family Restaurant. This establishment ranked among the top eateries in the entire Jiayuan City, especially famed for its signature liquor, "Thyme," which was renowned far and wide and attracted countless merchants who came specifically for it.

It was noon, mealtime, and the Xiang Family Restaurant was packed to the brim; from the first floor to the third, every table was occupied, crowded with diners enjoying their meals.

Passersby on the street outside could distinctly smell the rich aroma of food and wine wafting from the restaurant, making mouths water and tempting many.

On the second floor by the window facing the street, a young man sat alone at a table. There were several delicious dishes, both meat and vegetables, laid out before him, along with a bottle of the famous "Thyme" clear wine. Behind him stood a towering burly man, an imposing figure—this was Han Li, who had come to gather information.

Han Li was looking down from the window, playing with a small wine cup filled with liquor. The food on the table had barely been touched, and he appeared absentminded and lazy.

Glancing sideways at the nearby Mo Residence, Han Li then shifted his gaze back to the street below, his expression unchanged. He lifted his head and downed the cup of wine before continuing to stare thoughtfully beyond the window.

After some inquiries, Han Li had learned that Doctor Mo’s two biological daughters and their adopted daughter were all stunning beauties, famous in Jiayuan City as the three great beauties of the Mo Residence. They were jokingly called the “Three Glories of the Mo Residence.”

Because of their great reputation, countless young masters and heroic young men vied for their favor.

Among them, Mo Yuzhu was especially exquisite, attracting the largest number of suitors. Her recent engagement had stirred up a huge commotion, leaving many of her admirers heartbroken. Some skilled in martial arts had even challenged Young Master Wu, but Wu Jianming defeated sixteen rivals in a row. This only enhanced his reputation as a martial arts master and deepened his affectionate relationship with Mo Yuzhu, making them inseparable lovers.

Han Li found this situation somewhat ridiculous. While others did not know the background of Young Master Wu, Han Li was very clear about it.

There was an eighty to ninety percent chance that Wu Jianming was sent by Doctor Mo’s enemies. It seemed that after all these years without Doctor Mo appearing publicly, their rivals had grown suspicious. The arrival of this Young Master Wu was likely a probe.

What Han Li didn’t know was how Wu had gained the trust of the Mo Residence. Ordinary tokens or letters probably wouldn’t have convinced the ladies of the Mo family so easily.

Tapping his fingers lightly on the table, Han Li pondered these questions in his mind.

“Sir, please come this way! The dishes you ordered will be served shortly.” A waiter in a white short jacket led a blue-clothed youth, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, up to the second floor. He was seated at an empty table next to Han Li before the waiter hurried off to attend other customers.

The blue-clothed youth had well-defined features, thick eyebrows, and big eyes, with an air of heroism about him.

After sitting down, he glanced around the room, his gaze coinciding with Han Li’s. Han Li sensed a strange depth in the man’s eyes, as if an inexplicable force was trying to pull him in. Startled, Han Li quickly turned his head away with a slight change in his expression.
