Chapter 102: Kill on Sight
As soon as Han Li stepped off the dock, he let two porters walk ahead to lead him to a nearby inn, planning to rest well first before considering anything else.
The two men readily agreed and led Han Li and his companions into the city. However, they took a winding route, and after quite a while, there was still no sign of an inn.
Although Han Li continued to follow behind the two men, he noticed the roads they took becoming more and more secluded, with fewer people around. He frowned slightly.
Even without experience lodging in large towns, Han Li knew that no inn would be built in such a remote and desolate area—there would be no customers coming here.
So when they were led into a filthy, pitch-dark alley, Han Li gave a bitter smile. He felt he should immediately seize the two men and interrogate them to see what their true intentions were.
Just as Han Li was about to make his move, suddenly, from deep within the alley, about a dozen burly men appeared. They looked somewhat familiar, as if they had been seen before in the dockside sheds.
These men were holding various iron rods and sharp knives. At this moment, they stared at Han Li and Quhun with ill intentions. Meanwhile, the two porters carrying the packages abruptly charged into the group and turned back, grinning slyly at Han Li.
Han Li sighed. It seemed he didn’t even need to interrogate them to know their purpose. He hadn’t expected that, just after stepping onto Doctor Mo’s homeland, he would run into a scheme to rob and kill.
“Kid, don’t blame us for being ruthless. You’re the one carrying so much silver. Blame your own bad luck!” A coarse voice came from behind.
Han Li turned to see seven or eight strong men appearing behind him. Leading them were two men: one dark-skinned, broad-shouldered, and stocky; the other thin, with a crooked head and beady eyes—none other than Black Bear and Sun Ergou.
This kind of murderous robbery wasn’t their first time doing. They all understood that as long as they handled the job cleanly and left no survivors, cases of missing outsiders like this wouldn’t interest the local authorities. After all, disappearances happened so frequently here that the officials couldn’t possibly investigate each one.
After Black Bear finished speaking, he didn’t hesitate. He gave a signal to the dozen men in front, who then brandished their weapons and viciously charged at Han Li and Quhun, who were trapped in the middle.
Han Li saw the bloodthirsty ferocity in these men’s eyes and a flicker of killing intent passed through his own gaze. He could tell these men had done this kind of thing multiple times before; otherwise, they wouldn’t all carry that lingering metallic scent of blood.
“Kill them. Don’t hold back!” Han Li ordered coldly to Quhun.
Hearing Han Li’s command, Quhun let out a low growl mixed with a hint of excitement. He suddenly lunged forward, charging straight into the crowd coming at him.
With a swift punch, lightning-fast, he struck the head of one burly man. The man immediately flew sideways like a sandbag, hitting the stone wall with a sickening thud. Blood and brain matter spilled everywhere, and half of his skull was crushed.
At that moment, a sharp knife and a thick iron rod simultaneously came down towards Quhun’s back.
Quhun didn’t even look back. With one hand, he swung behind him in a half-circle. “Bang! Bang!” The two weapons struck his arm and were knocked into the air, the attackers’ hands bleeding profusely.
Then, planting one leg firmly on the ground, Quhun’s other foot swept backward like a scythe. The two men were kicked hard in the abdomen and flung more than ten feet away, collapsing motionless.
Those watching couldn’t help but take a sharp breath. The men surrounding Quhun showed fear and hesitation, reluctant to advance.
But even when they faltered, Quhun was merciless, striking with both hands and smashing the skulls of two nearby men. Without Han Li’s order, he wouldn’t stop.
