Chapter 59: Anecdote: At That Time in the Original World 🗺️

Published: February 1, 2026

A story about His Majesty and the others in the original world. Master-and-servant love at full throttle.

As always, you can skip this without missing anything in the main story.

Note: There is a brief moment where Lizel is weakened. If you only like an absolutely unshakable, always-nonchalant Lizel, please skip this.

Our king was born a ruler.

Overflowing radiance, keen eyes, a voice that carries absolute command, a pressure that makes you want to kneel.

With moonlike silver hair and starlike amber eyes, he has such presence that you might think the sun itself had taken human form.

Yet though he is revered, he is never feared; though he stands alone, he is no despot. The commoners feel both affection and respect for him, while we vassals offer him admiration and awe—he is lauded as the greatest king in our history.

The one who drove the study of kingship into such a man (with no violence whatsoever) is my direct superior, Lord Rizel.

Even grown adults couldn’t handle him; ever since childhood, our king had been wildly out of line. I was honestly certain there was no way he’d obediently listen to what some tutor said. I don’t know how it came about that the still-young Lord Rizel was chosen, but now that he alone is the one person the king will straightforwardly obey, it’s clear he was the right choice.

His freewheeling behavior can make you forget, but His Majesty the king is extremely capable.

He disappears here and there from time to time, but he always finishes everything first, so it’s never become a serious problem. Well, part of that is also because Lord Rizel adjusted things so they wouldn’t become a problem.

The way he easily handles countless duties is well-practiced, even giving off a dignity beyond his years.

That must be the result of Lord Rizel’s education—which means that for someone capable of raising such an excellent king to suddenly vanish is…

“Your Majesty, the military’s budget is below that of previous years…”

“Riz always scrounged it up from somewhere, didn’t he? If that guy could do it then it’s not impossible. Figure it out.”

“Your Majesty! Because of a shortage of personnel in Finance, government business is about to grind to a halt!”

“Borrow from other departments. Around this time of year Riz always shuffled people into Finance ahead of time from all over, so do it yourself.”

“Your Majesty… bandits are appearing on the trade routes, but the knights are at their limit and simply can’t…”

“You’re so damn stiff. Riz would just go hire some ace mercenary he was personally on good terms with. Don’t you dare tell me you don’t have a single connection.”

“Your Majesty, the king of the neighboring country asks why the seasonal liquor he always receives from you at the change of seasons hasn’t arrived…”

“How should I know! I told him all he needs to do is keep me in a good mood, what the hell is that guy doing!”

…which is to say, our crisis.

“Damn it, I wanna be out looking for Riz, and these incompetents just keep dragging me down!”

In the room, finally returned to silence, His Majesty was thoroughly irritated.

Can’t blame him, given the people who had been coming in to ask about their work. Not one of His Majesty’s close aides was among those who came today seeking instructions.

Well, except the one who brought news from that certain neighboring king. He’s basically family.

“For someone who grumbles about the budget for searching for Lord Rizel to shamelessly come wheedling to us without a shred of gratitude—there are limits to brazen impudence. Such people have zero value in living.”

“…Didn’t know you had such a foul mouth. Well, you’re right though.”

Of course my mouth gets foul. Lord Rizel is the one who saved my life, after all.

His Majesty roughly ran his hand through his shining silver hair and clicked his tongue.

“If Riz didn’t stop me I’d crush them all.”

“Is he restraining you? It’s true that Your Majesty would probably blow up their whole house the instant you felt they displeased you.”
