A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation

Chapter 167: When Will the Flowers Bloom? 🌸

Published: February 1, 2026

“Music, theater, fishing—adventurers really get to try all sorts of things, huh?”

“You can play that, right? The violin?”

“It’s my first time joining an orchestra.”

In front of the crowded quest board at the adventurers’ guild, Jill nodded thoughtfully at the cheerful Rizel. He had already heard that Rizel had joined a local orchestra while on an escort request with a certain party. Since it was a quest he would have passed up anyway, it seemed to be a perfect fit.

Though it was a bit ironic that the quest Rizel picked was one adventurers usually avoid, Jill didn’t say anything.

“The leader never joined one over there?”

“No way, I wouldn’t even mention that.”

Rizel smiled wryly as usual, scanning the A-rank quests first.

“You can’t just add noise where only beautiful melodies are needed, can you?”

To Jill and Eleven, Rizel’s violin sounded beautiful. But they understood something was missing. The orchestra Rizel had heard back home was probably considered the best in the country—perhaps even the best in the world.

They could easily imagine Rizel stepping down from a carriage in front of a hall equipped with top-notch acoustics, watching the show from a box seat. It suited him perfectly.

“That orchestra to enjoy performances the other day was nice too.”

“The leader looked like he was having a blast.”

“It really was fun.”

Rizel bypassed the C- and D-rank quests, which other adventurers were crowding around, and headed to the E- and F-rank quests instead. He glanced over the board briefly to get a sense of the low-rank quest trends and then turned his attention back to the easier quests.

“First time seeing a street orchestra like that?”

“No, just once. His Majesty jumped in spontaneously.”

“What?”

It was unbelievable that the king, who should have a royal box at the music hall, debuted in a street orchestra—and on a whim, no less. As always, the people they heard about had extraordinary initiative.

“He hammered the piano keys hard, and it got everyone pumped up.”

“Ah, is that like a relative of the organ?”

“How could that be exciting?”

“His Majesty’s piano playing is intense.”

He could play classical pieces, but he liked upbeat songs.

Jill imagined intense piano music as heavy and stormy with dazzling technical skill, but couldn’t picture bright, fast-paced tunes. Maybe something like the cheerful violin music sometimes heard at taverns.

“Hm.”

Suddenly, Rizel spotted a quest paper stuck low on the board. He bent slightly and carefully lifted it without peeling it off.

Jill and Eleven leaned in to look as well. Even though it was an F-rank quest, an unusual request caught their eyes.

[Wanting a Single Flower to Bloom]

Rank: F and above

Client: Florist of the Green Well

Reward: 5 silver coins

Request: Please provide information to help bloom a flower said to grow in a mana reservoir.

If you know about mana reservoirs or useful materials, please help us.

Jill thought: Rizel who enjoys music, fishing, and theater to the fullest surely wouldn’t be indifferent to this. Could he even find something he doesn’t enjoy? Of course, excluding daily duties like politics or diplomacy back home.

“I want to take this one.”

“Figured.”

“But I don’t know much about horticulture…”

Behind Rizel, who stared thoughtfully at the quest paper, other adventurers glanced at it too, wondering if there were F-rank quests this hard to complete.

Despite the double takes, they accepted it since it was Rizel. His expression looked slightly complicated though.

“How about you, Eleven?”

“Me?”

“Well, you lived in a forest originally.”

“Hunters don’t bother with soil and stuff. Totally different.”

Eleven added that sometimes he’d be away for days tracking prey, and Rizel nodded in understanding. Still, Eleven’s father mainly used traps, so he wasn’t always on the move.

“My mom might know a bit more.”

“She’s a perfumer, right?”

“Yeah. She grew some herb-like plants.”

Rizel recalled seeing a small flower bed next to Eleven’s house when they visited. Though Jill only vaguely remembered it, Rizel seemed to have a clear memory. He blinked once, impressed by the variety of plants, and then his gaze shifted to Jill.
