Among the things Rizel gained in Astarnia was the skill of fishing.
Whether her skill was good or bad was another matter, but she had learned what fishing was. She had only dropped Seed-Eating Worms, swung them around, and caught poisonous fish, but in any case, she had gained the experience of fishing.
Rizel was deeply grateful to a certain host for that. After all, it was fun once she tried it. It was nice to leisurely lower the fishing line and have casual conversations. The vibrations felt in the hands when a fish bit were also enjoyable.
“That one looks good.”
“(That one, huh)”
“(That one, huh?)”
Thus, it was understandable that Jill and the others nodded knowingly when she pointed to a quest they definitely wanted to try.
They knew Rizel looked happy holding the fishing rod. In fact, they knew she had been eagerly asking the tavern staff for tips and nodding appreciatively at the fishing knowledge the host enthusiastically shared.
The two of them glanced at a quest sheet they guessed she would find and pick before them.
【Illusory Fishing Spot?】
Rank: D~
Client: Fishing Master
Reward: 20 silver coins
Quest Details: I heard there’s a fishing spot inside the labyrinth “Infinite Floating Islands.” I want as detailed a map as possible, directions, and monster information. Please and thank you.
“They really want to go for it.”
“The way they’re prepping thoroughly shows they’re serious.”
Will the day come when there’s an escort request to the fishing spot on the quest board?
In front of Jill and Eleven, who were staring intently, Rizel peeled off the quest sheet with a snap. Since neither of them objected, she happily headed to the reception window.
“Think the leader’s gonna fish too?”
“Who knows.”
Following behind, Jill chuckled with interest while Eleven muttered in exasperation.
The “Infinite Floating Islands,” true to its name, was a labyrinth traversed by crossing many floating islands.
A vast lake stretched as far as the eye could see. No wind disturbed the surface, which reflected the beautiful blue sky. The scattered floating islands were covered in natural greenery and connected by ladder-like footholds.
These islands, varying in size, never sank no matter how the three stood on them, though the slight swaying was unsettling at first.
“When you say fishing spot, I feel like all of them could be.”
Eleven crouched at the edge of one island and peered at the water.
The clear water revealed the bottom, with driftwood and colorful moss spreading beautifully. Splashing around with his fingertips, he realized the water was cold.
“Come to think of it, we’ve never seen regular fish, right?”
“If there aren’t fish, we can’t fish.”
Eleven wiped the water off and stood up.
Rizel also peered into the water. There was no point in lowering a fishing line where there were no fish. There had to be a place where you could catch some fish since it was called a fishing spot.
“Well, I have heard rumors.”
“Yeah.”
When Jill looked down as well, the island slightly tilted from their uneven weight, but it didn’t feel dangerous as it never capsized.
“Rumors?”
“Just that someone saw a place where it looked like you could fish really well.”
“Don’t know which labyrinth, though.”
The client had probably heard the same rumor.
If it was circulating among adventurers, multiple people must have witnessed it. Even if there were no actual reports of fish being caught, if it looked like a great fishing spot, it might be the sort of place obvious at a glance.
Rizel nodded, understanding that normally no one would even think of fishing in a labyrinth.
“Finding it itself doesn’t seem too hard.”
“But they’ll probably have to clear it until they get a bite.”
“That’s true.”
As they walked, the three talked.
They crossed the ladder-like footholds in a line. If it were the deeper floors, they might have been attacked at this timing, but since it was still the first floor, nothing mean would happen.
