The reception rooms of extravagant mansions each had their own unique characteristics.
The basics involved ideally arranging tasteful furniture to create a room worthy of one’s status. What was added on top of that revealed the personality of the household head.
If someone loved flowers, there would be many displayed; it was also nice if a well-kept garden could be seen through the window. If they were particular about tea sets, a sideboard might be placed to display them. If they were particular about paintings, a wall could be adorned with a highly tasteful balance of artwork.
“I heard you couldn’t drink, but to this extent!”
This was a reception room where even the casually placed furnishings incorporated dungeon items.
Rei, the master of the mansion, leaned back into the sofa without a hint of sarcasm, showing genuine admiration with a joyful smile. His gaze was filled with intense curiosity, directed at the person sitting across from him.
“Leader, is it tasty?”
“It’s alright,” Rizel replied with a somewhat relaxed tone, lifting the chilled glass from her lips with a smile.
If she smoothly moved her hand aside, the offered hand naturally took it. Eleven, who was motioned to sit here, sat down on the chair quite naturally. He had no complaints.
Their heights were nearly the same, so it was probably inconvenient to have her on his lap. Eleven placed Rizel between his legs and looked at Rei with a pleased smile.
“Well, I mostly explained things in the carriage. Any questions?”
“Nope?”
Raising his hands lightly, Rei received a gentle tilt of Rizel’s head.
With a smile still lingering on her lips, she narrowed her eyes slightly. That gesture—soft around the eyes yet piercing—caused Rei’s golden eyes to sparkle with joy.
“You have quite the charming way of getting drunk.”
The words slipped out with a smile, seemingly satisfying Rizel.
Supporting the weight leaning against him with ease, Eleven took a sip from the glass handed to him, feeling slightly surprised. The drink was diluted so much it could hardly be called alcohol anymore, chilling his lips.
“Why are you getting a little spoiled by him, Leader?”
Peeking out from his shoulder, Rizel’s gaze turned toward him.
Previously, when Rizel had become a fake noble and he had quickly submitted, not understanding her true intent, now that he did understand, Eleven knew he wouldn’t be scolded even if he resisted a little. He didn’t stop it this time, but it wasn’t like he deliberately let her drink; no fault there, so he was free to do as he pleased.
“That chair acting like it has the right to touch my glass?”
“Oh, sorry about that.”
He couldn’t help but comply.
“Oh? Is that you being spoiled?”
Rei laughed merrily and took up his own glass.
He didn’t seem in the mood to drink early in the day, so his glass contained thoroughly chilled tea with ice. The reason Rizel was served alcohol, albeit diluted to the limit, was simply because Eleven wanted to keep her in that drunken state.
“They seem to be opposites, so she spoils me.”
“I see. But I don’t recall being spoiled.”
“Do you want to be spoiled?”
“If anything, it’s the opposite.”
Clinking the ice in his glass, Rei’s smile deepened.
His harmless smile was enough to make others feel at ease, but Eleven was not so easily convinced. Frowning suspiciously, he skillfully dodged Rizel and reached for some sweets on the table with the hand opposite the one holding the glass.
“Hm? Then, how did you react with Jill?”
“I spoiled him.”
He said simply, popping a piece of chocolate into his mouth. But he noticed Rizel’s lips gently following the chocolate.
“Well, that’s quite the luxury!”
“Well, I guess it is.”
Rei leaned forward eagerly as if expecting something from those ambiguous words.
Eleven altered the chocolate’s course, moving it from his own mouth to Rizel’s lips. Inevitably, her lips parted slightly to take it, and she devoured it with satisfaction.
“She’s completely going to be won over.”
